We played this song for Good Friday. It is a powerful hymn that demonstrates the lengths to which Jesus has gone in order to save us from our sin.
Lately, I’ve been reflecting on the fact that Jesus was a 100% human and 100% God. OF COURSE this can be hard to wrap our minds around because this is beyond our human understanding. I think something we often forget is the fact that Jesus was 100% human. He performs so many divine miracles that we forget that he was also just like us. Things that hurt us, hurt him. And in that light, the crucifixion story is a whole lot harder to hear. It’s hard to hear that Jesus had to suffer such an endearing pain for us. And today, we remember that. We remember the human pain Jesus suffered on the cross. The fact that Jesus was human truly changes everything. It means we have a God who understands our pain.
